The Legends Nitro Series will return in 2024 with a 10-race schedule that includes Nostalgia Funny Car racing at NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series and NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events.
The Legends Nitro Series will feature two new stops at Firebird Motorsports Park in Phoenix and Woodburn Dragstrip in Portland.
The series has gained popularity among fans due to the supercharged, nitro-burning engines, cloaked in 1970s-era body styles. The presentation is a throwback to days gone by in drag racing.
Bill Windham, co-promoter and competitor of Legends Nitro Series, expressed his satisfaction with the response to the first full season of the series.
“We were very pleased with the response to the first full season of Legends Nitro Series,” said Bill Windham, co-promoter and competitor. “Bringing these cars to national event audiences and being featured on FOX coverage has brought attention to the category at both staple events and new venues. We are pumped up about going to Phoenix and Woodburn for the first time and returning to the tracks where we put on great racing in 2023.”
The Legends Nitro Series brings the show courtesy of sponsorships from Modern Warriors, KC Turbos, Red Line Synthetic Oil, and Boychuk Ventures Inc. Future announcements will reveal additional sponsors.
The season will kick off with the March Meet event at Famoso Dragstrip on March 1-3. Competitors will then head to In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip for the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals on March 21-24. Two weeks later, they will compete in front of NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series crowds again in Phoenix for the NHRA Arizona Nationals on April 5-7.
The Legends Nitro Series will also make stops at Firebird Raceway in Boise for their signature events, the Ignitor Nitro Opener on May 17-19 and the Nightfire Nationals on August 2-4. Between these Idaho races, the series will travel east of the Mississippi for back-to-back weekends.
First, they will race Thunder Valley Raceway in Bristol during the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals on June 7-9. The following weekend, they will head to the Wally Parks NHRA Nostalgia Nationals presented by Holley at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky., on June 15-17.
After the inaugural Summer Nationals at Woodburn Dragstrip on Aug. 23-25, the series will return to Bakersfield as part of the Wally Parks NHRA Nostalgia Nationals and conclude the season at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the NHRA Nevada Nationals on Oct. 31-Nov. 3.
