McLeod Racing and Silver Sport Transmissions left the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas with something more valuable than a crowded booth and a stack of business cards. Both companies earned SEMA Media’s Choice Awards for products aimed at two different corners of the performance market.
McLeod earned recognition for its RXT 3D Triple Disc Clutch Kit, while Silver Sport Transmissions was honored for its M22-style four-speed Muncie transmission. One is built to handle the horsepower demands of today’s performance cars, while the other brings back a familiar piece of muscle car history.
The McLeod RXT 3D is rated to handle up to 1,650 horsepower, using three ceramic friction discs to manage the load without turning every trip down the street into a workout for the driver’s left leg. That’s a considerable amount of horsepower for a clutch designed to remain practical in a street-driven car.
The complete bolt-in package includes a pressure plate, three clutch discs, floater plates, a flywheel, installation hardware and a hydraulic release bearing. McLeod developed the system for builders who need more holding capacity than a conventional clutch can provide but aren’t interested in giving up street manners to get it.
Silver Sport Transmissions went in another direction, reaching back to one of the most recognizable gearboxes of the original muscle car era.
Its M22-style four-speed draws its inspiration from the legendary Muncie M22, better known as the “Rock Crusher.” For anyone who grew up around big-block Chevrolets and four-speed muscle cars, that name needs little introduction.
The new transmission is intended to retain the character of the original Muncie while benefiting from modern manufacturing and engineering. It gives restorers and builders another option when they want the experience of rowing through four gears instead of converting their cars to a modern overdrive transmission.
For Silver Sport, the appeal is straightforward. Plenty of enthusiasts still want a four-speed in their vintage muscle cars, and the M22 name carries considerable weight with that crowd.
“Winning two Media’s Choice Awards at the SEMA Show is a huge honor for our teams,” said Bob Scheid, vice president of The Wharton Automotive Group. “With the RXT 3D, we’re showing enthusiasts that you don’t have to give up street drivability to handle serious horsepower. And with the M22, we’re bringing back a legendary transmission that muscle car enthusiasts have loved for decades. These awards are a great recognition of the hard work our teams put into developing products that people actually want to drive.“
Both McLeod Racing and Silver Sport Transmissions operate under The Wharton Automotive Group umbrella, giving the organization a presence in both high-horsepower clutch technology and complete transmission systems.
