Kevin Bowen, crew chief for reigning ADRL Pro Nitrous World Champion Bob Rahaim, died Oct. 4, in a single-car accident near Bowen’s home in Roxboro, N.C. He is survived by his wife Laura and two young children, Reece and River.
“Kevin was a brilliant young man who had a real passion for racing,” a heartbroken Rahaim said from his home in Michigan. “But even more so he was a really great guy and a true family man; he loved his wife and kids and would do anything for them.”

Bowen survived a serious bout with cancer last summer before recovering late in the year to lead Rahaim to his first major pro championship.
“That was the pinnacle of our racing careers,” Rahaim said. “When you race together like Kevin and I did, you get to share a lot of emotions, good and bad, and you develop a really personal relationship. I’m still just numb and feeling stunned by this. It’s terrible when anyone has to leave us before their time, but this just feels so unreal.”
Memorial service details for Bowen are not yet available, but CompetitionPlus.com will update this story as soon as they are released. The staff of CompetitionPlus.com joins the entire drag racing community in sending condolences to Bowen’s family, crew and friends.
