The Ron Capps Motorsports team will debut a new look at this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway near Charlotte as NAPA celebrates its 100th anniversary. The milestone falls on May 4, marking a century since NAPA was founded in 1925.
As part of the anniversary, all NAPA-backed motorsports teams will feature commemorative liveries around the date. Teams participating include the NASCAR Cup Series (Chase Elliott), NASCAR Truck Series (Daniel Hemric), High Limit Sprint Car Series (Brad Sweet), and Capps, who drives the NAPA Auto Care Toyota GR Supra Funny Car.
“I don’t think very many people can say that they have had the opportunity to celebrate 100 years of anything,” Capps said. He has represented NAPA proudly since 2007 and has secured three world championships and over 50 race wins.
Capps expressed enthusiasm about debuting the NAPA 100 car at the Charlotte event. “I know the fans are going to go crazy for it,” he said of the sleek new design.
The team will keep the anniversary livery a secret until the first qualifying session, scheduled for 5:15 p.m. ET on Friday, April 25. The reveal will take place on the starting line before a capacity crowd at zMAX Dragway.
“Rolling out the NAPA 100 scheme across all our race teams was the perfect way to honor NAPA’s rich history,” said Emily Schneider, Sr. Director of Marketing. She added that NAPA aims to continue serving customers for another century.
Capps seeks his fifth NHRA victory at the Concord, N.C. facility. He has already secured two four-wide wins, including the 2022 event in Las Vegas and his 2017 win at Charlotte.
