The Texas Motorplex has named Olan and Judy Gotcher, long-time race volunteers, and Rosalee Noble, a Drag Racing Association of Women (DRAW) board member, as Texas Motorplex Legends. The announcement comes ahead of the 2024 NHRA Texas Fall Nationals at the Stampede of Speed.
The trio has played significant roles at Texas Motorplex and in drag racing for decades. Their contributions will be recognized during separate ceremonies at the Fall Nationals, October 9-13.
“Olan, Judy, and Rosalee may not be widely known by fans, but they are Legends in drag racing,” said Christie Meyer Johnson, Texas Motorplex co-owner. “They represent the many volunteers who make drag races possible and support racers. Their dedication to the sport and to Texas Motorplex is invaluable.”
Noble, who passed away in May, was involved in drag racing for over 30 years. She competed at Coles County Dragway and was a three-time track champion. Noble also served on the DRAW board starting in 1991 and became its president in 1993. She was informed of her Legend status before her death.
Olan and Judy Gotcher have been involved in race operations at Texas Motorplex for over 40 years, working in the tower to ensure smooth race operations. Olan also raced locally and has served on the DRAW board, where he edited the DRAW newsletter.
The Legends will be honored with custom spurs at the Texas Fall Nationals. Tickets for the event are available through the Texas Motorplex.
