Veteran Top Fuel driver Rob Passey’s passion to compete remains as strong as ever.
The Salt Lake City, Utah, native will feed his passion when he makes his 2024 season debut at the Four-Wide Nationals, April 12-14 in Las Vegas.
When Passey’s team rolls into The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway it will be with backing from the Salt Depot and their Purple Heat Ice Melt brand, which has Passey’s Team Seven23 excited to return to competition this weekend.
“Last year was a lot of fun in Las Vegas,” Passey said. “We had an exciting quad of cars and were able to advance to round 2. Our goal this year is to qualify for the race and try to advance on race day. The car is starting to improve with every run we make, we want to keep improving the performance of the car this weekend.
“It has been a long offseason, we had planned to be in Pomona, for the Winternationals (March 21-24), but with several rule changes within the class for this year, we just ran out of time. We are excited to have Salt Depot step up and expand their involvement with our team this season.”
Passey made his NHRA debut at the 2001 Winternationals and he has had his Top Fuel license since 1994. He has been competing on a limited schedule in NHRA’s Top Fuel ranks for years.
Passey is quick to thank his other sponsors for making the Vegas race possible.
Those valuable partners include Sugar House Awning, Mighty Auto Parts of Salt Lake, Ascend HVAC, Intermountain Golf Cars, LandArt Landscape Management, SRMS Customs and Passey offered a special thanks to Kenny Pearmain.
Top Fuel competition at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals begins with qualifying sessions Friday and Saturday at noon and 2:30 p.m. (PT), respectively. Eliminations are set for noon on Sunday beginning with the nitro classes. The national event will be televised on FOX Sports 1 (FS1).
