CompetitionPlus.com, a leader and pioneer of drag racing internet magazines, has expanded its team to include Darin Williams Jr. as Assistant Editor.
Williams, 27, brings to the team a passion for drag racing journalism, focusing on both the present and past of the straight-line sport. His American Hot Rod Entertainment brand of video content has been a hit on social media channels.
“I am truly excited and honored to be joining the Competition Plus team,” Williams said. “I have been a huge drag racing fan all my life, and have followed Competition Plus for many years now, so to be joining the team is very surreal. I want to thank Bobby Bennett for giving me this huge opportunity, and I hope through my work I can show my passion and love for Drag Racing and connect with the audience.”
CompetitionPlus.com founder and editor Bobby Bennett said Williams brings a strong conduit to the next generation of drag racers, fans, and journalists.
“Darin brings a wealth of enthusiasm and excitement to our team of accomplished journalists,” Bennett said. “His excitement for the sport, and most importantly, the foundation and history of the sport, is visible. Darin is a great person, and his attitude towards drag racing is refreshing. To see someone his age excited about the future of drag racing, with a passion for ensuring the preservation of its history, is very encouraging.”
Williams, in addition to writing articles, will become an integral part of generating video content for CompetitionPlusTV.
“Living in Southern California, I grew up going to the drag races at Pomona for the Winternationals and World Finals and Las Vegas on many occasions, and the older I got, the more my passion and knowledge for the sport grew,” Williams said. “That prompted me to start my own YouTube channel called American Hot Rod Entertainment in the summer of 2020 to give me a platform to share my knowledge and connect with other people within the Drag Racing community.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would lead to me getting to work with the biggest drag racing online magazine in the world. I’m truly thankful and plan to make the best of the opportunity.”
