The World Series of Pro Mod is headed west, and the change will split up a Florida winter schedule many racers had built their offseason around.
Wes Buck announced Wednesday that the event will move from Bradenton Motorsports Park to Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, for March 5-7, 2027. It will once again operate as a standalone race rather than the closing event of a three-race winter stretch.

“The World Series of Pro Mod has always been about creating something that feels bigger than just another drag race, and moving it to Texas Motorplex gives us an opportunity to take that vision to another level,” Buck said. “This is one of the most iconic facilities in drag racing, and the people behind Texas Motorplex understand what it takes to build an event that racers want to be part of and fans want to experience. Christie and her team have been incredible to work with, and we’re excited about what we can build together. March 5-7, 2027 are going to be dates Pro Mod racers and fans need to have circled.”
The World Series had become the payoff at the end of Bradenton’s winter run. Teams could test new cars and engine combinations, race for substantial purses and leave Florida with several weeks of data before the NHRA and PDRA seasons settled into gear.
That arrangement will no longer include Buck’s event.
Bradenton recently announced its three-race Car Wars Winter Series, beginning with the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals on Dec. 3-6. The U.S. Street Nationals follows Jan. 21-24, with the Pro Mod Finals scheduled for Feb. 25-28.
The DI World Series of Pro Modified will take place the following weekend in Texas.
That creates a decision for teams that previously remained in Florida through the entire winter stretch. Racers pursuing both schedules will have only a few days to leave Bradenton, return to their shops or continue west and prepare for another major event.
Texas Motorplex is no stranger to staging races on that scale. The all-concrete facility has hosted major drag racing events for decades and gives Buck room to build the World Series as its own attraction.

The World Series has made its name by refusing to give racers the comfort of a traditional elimination ladder. Once the field is set, pairings are determined by a chip draw.
That means the quickest car does not necessarily receive the most favorable opening-round opponent. Two favorites can draw each other immediately, and a matchup that would normally headline a final can happen before the field has been cut in half.
The format has helped separate the World Series from other major Pro Modified races. So has its presentation, which Buck has built around driver introductions, fan access and an atmosphere intended to make each pairing feel important.
“The goal is to make the World Series of Pro Mod something that people talk about long after the last car has left the property,” Buck said. “Texas Motorplex has the history, the facility and the team to help us do that. We’re just getting started.”
Event management has not announced the invited racers, ticket information or the final event schedule. Those details will be released before the World Series makes its Texas debut in March.
