Despite convincing rumors suggesting NHRA would open 2026 in Pomona, CA, the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series will open March 5-8 with the 57th annual Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. This event marks the beginning of NHRA’s 75th anniversary season.
The season will feature yearlong celebrations honoring the history of NHRA drag racing. Tickets for the opening event will go on sale Aug. 25, with the complete 2026 schedule to be announced soon.
“This event kicks off our 2026 and also starts a season-long celebration of the NHRA’s rich history,” NHRA President Glen Cromwell said. “Starting in Gainesville, we can’t wait to showcase everything that makes the NHRA so special in 2026.”

Special events at the Gatornationals will include appearances by NHRA legends and unique displays. Fans can anticipate a spectacular experience at the season-opening event next year.
The Gatornationals, a pivotal race in NHRA history, has been a goal for drivers for over five decades. Winning at this iconic venue will be a significant focus for competitors as the 75th anniversary season begins.
This year, Antron Brown (Top Fuel), Chad Green (Funny Car), Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock), and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) secured wins at Gainesville, adding to the excitement of the 2025 season.
