NHRA fans will have a new show to tune into with the debut of Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull, the first television offering from Werner G+E LLC.
Hosted by professional Funny Car driver Buddy Hull, the interview-style program debuts July 31 and will be featured on the NHRA FAST Channel, adding to the channel’s list of original series. Viewers can catch the show on 13 platforms, including the Roku Channel and Tubi.
“I am excited to share Talkin’ Funny Cars with the NHRA audience as well as motorsports fans who might not know that much about our sport,” said Hull, who is entering his fourth year as a professional driver. “I am new to the Funny Car class this year, but I started racing in Fuel Altereds, and Funny Cars have always held a special place in my heart. I want this show to highlight the personalities of Funny Car drivers throughout the years as well as shed some light on new stories and insights from some of the coolest drivers on the planet.”
The first guest on the show will be three-time Funny Car world champion Ron Capps. He will share stories of his family’s drag racing roots in Southern California and the pivotal phone call leading to his career as a Funny Car team owner. The conversation between Hull and Capps will give fans a closer look at the personalities and experiences of Funny Car drivers.
Capps expressed his excitement about being a part of Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull and praised the concept as something that has been a long time coming.
“I am a huge fan of the FAST Channel, first of all. Anytime we have company over, we have it running all the time,” Capps said. “Getting to know Buddy over the first half of the season has been wonderful. He is a great guy and fits right in with all of us Funny Car drivers. When I heard the concept of the show, I thought this has been a long time coming for something this cool. To be invited to sit down with another Funny Car driver like Buddy and talk about where we came from and what turns us on about Funny Cars, I think the fans are really, really going to love this show. I can’t wait to watch more episodes down the road.”
Future episodes of Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull will feature a mix of up-and-coming Funny Car drivers, established winners, and Hall of Fame legends. Each episode will include a Funny Car Fast Five segment, offering quick insights and opinions from the guests. The show aims to provide fans with engaging and original content on the NHRA FAST Channel.
The show concept was created by Werner G+E LLC president Elon Werner, who saw the NHRA as a landscape rich with interesting personalities and stories. With the success of Drag Race Bracket Bonanza and Werner Communications, Werner saw an opportunity to bring original and dynamic content to the NHRA FAST Channel through shows like Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull. Future episodes and series are in the works to continue to showcase the diverse stories within the NHRA community.
Following the premiere episode, Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull will become a regular part of the programming rotation on the NHRA FAST Channel. For the remainder of the 2024 season, new episodes will air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST and 8 p.m. PST before NHRA national events. The show aims to provide fans with a closer look at the world of Funny Car racing and the personalities that make up the sport.
