CompetitionPlus.com has added longtime motorsports industry veteran Vic Wood to its team as its Director of Advertising and Sponsorships, putting a familiar face from the drag racing pits in direct contact with the companies that support the publication.
Wood will work with new and existing clients to assist with their advertising and marketing needs while continuing in his role as Racing Manager for VizionOne Hand Cleaner, CompetitionPlus.com’s primary sponsor.
VizionOne came aboard earlier this season as the site’s primary sponsor and has become an integral part of CompetitionPlus.com’s continued push for excellence. Wood has been at the center of the brand’s growing presence in drag racing, working with racers and teams while building relationships throughout the pits.
Now, he’ll bring that experience to CompetitionPlus.com.
“I am thrilled to be joining Bobby Bennett and his team at CompetitionPlus.com, the 27-year-old drag racing news website that has established itself as a premier outlet for the latest news, breaking stories and inside coverage,” Wood said. “CompetitionPlus.com has been the first click for drag racing fans for many years and maintains a much-envied readership in this space.
“Over the years, Bobby and I have maintained a great relationship through my various roles within the performance industry. This opportunity reflects the mutual respect we have for one another and the jobs we do, and I’m looking forward to helping bring another level to the advertising and marketing side of the site.”
Wood brings something to the position that can’t be learned from a rate card. His years in the performance industry have put him on both sides of the conversation, working with companies investing marketing dollars and racers trying to deliver value for those investments.
That background made Wood a natural fit for CompetitionPlus.com.
“Vic is one of those people in racing who is well-connected, and there’s a reason for that,” CompetitionPlus.com Publisher and Editor Bobby Bennett said. “He’s connected because he’s a genuinely good person who people gravitate toward. He’s knowledgeable about the sport and can relate to everyone from the marketing executive to the drag racer, and that’s because he’s been in both roles.
“I look forward to continuing to grow CompetitionPlus.com with Vic’s assistance.”
Founded in 1999, CompetitionPlus.com has spent 27 years covering drag racing while growing from a news website into a multimedia outlet encompassing original reporting, photography, video and social media.
