Brian Lohnes has been a fan of drag racing’s history. Later this month, he will wax nostalgic as a television host for the NHRA’s upcoming presentation of the California Hot Rod Reunion at Famoso Dragstrip.

Lohnes will be on-site throughout the weekend, capturing the essence of the Hot Rod Reunion in front of the camera. Fans can look forward to following the action on Famoso Dragstrip’s, Good Vibrations Motorsports’, and many other social media pages, where his updates will be shared throughout the day. The coverage will culminate with an evening wrap-up show highlighting the day’s track events.

“This year at the 2024 California Hot Rod Reunion, we’re going to take you into the pits, into the tower, and then bring you rock solid race coverage with updates at the end of each day,” NHRA’s Brian Lohnes said. “I’m really excited to work with Rob Hedrick to take people into the action and tell the stories at this race, which is very near to my heart.” Lohnes continued. “The Reunion is resurgent and I am proud to be part of it. The essence of the reunion is being there to see it. If you’ll be watching on social media from home, I’ll be your guide, but I’d sure like to high-five you in person in the pits.” Lohnes added.

Famoso’s Blake Bowser, who took over the event’s promotion, believes this presentation will be vital to building a strong following of the event.

“Brian and Rob are going to have complete control of this new approach in covering the Hot Rod Reunion. We can’t wait to see where they go, what they decide to spotlight and who they are able to talk to. Brian is a phenomenal talent and I’m grateful he wants to be a part of this incredible event! Race fans, if you can’t make it to this year’s event, make sure you follow us on social media to receive all the updates throughout the event.”

The opportunity to be part of the program excites Lohnes.

“When Blake Bowser shared his plans to revitalize a legacy event, I leapt at the chance to be there. As an east coast boy and historian of drag racing, Bakersfield has a legacy, a feel, and an aura all its own. To be able to share that with you across social media will be a truly joyful experience.” Lohnes concluded.

The 2024 California Hot Rod Reunion, presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports, officially kicks off on Friday, October 25th and runs through Sunday, October 27th at Famoso Dragstrip, but fans who purchase a Full Event – 3 Day Ticket will be admitted free for Thursday’s Test and Tune day.
