BRE’S BILLET MAIN BODIED CARBURETOR

BRE is excited to introduce a brand new addition to their line of competition carburetors   a completely billet main bodied carburetor.

This new carburetor can accommodate throttle plate sizes up to 2.500," in single format or 2x4. The added bonus of this design is that, unlike many other Big-Bore carburetors on the market, this billet piece retains the same bolt pattern and air horn size of a regular Holley Dominator.

Large horsepower gains have been made on BRE dyno already.

PROJECT WHITE WAGON: NOW THAT’S A REAREND!

lead_photoNow we’re getting ready to install the RJ Race Cars 9-inch Ford housing into the Project White Wagon. At this point, the unit is sitting on the TL Race Cars work bench, with chassis builder Tom Lukans carefully measuring and configuring the driveline placement.

“We know that the centerline on the car is off-set by half-inch,” Lukans explained. “The plate we have designates the centerline. From here we know where the center line is on the pinion. If we want the pinion offset to the passenger side, we off-set by a half-inch using the plate to measure. We incorporate the Quarter-Max four-link brackets and we are working on the back brace right now. Once we get this assembled we can work on the rearend.”

The unit isn’t race ready for our application, and does require a little work. But, for Lukans, the RJ Race Cars unit is one of the finest he’s ever worked with.

“It requires a lot of time and welds and these welds are intricate,” Lukans said. “You’re looking at something which will need a lot of strength. This RJ Race Cars Quarter-Max Rearend is a high-quality piece. When I’ve welded on it, there is no weak link. It’s high quality metal. You don’t get that from every manufacturer.”

The Forged Billet Superlite caliper has been the mainstay for many years in short track, late model, modified and open wheel competition as well as road racing, off road, rally and sport driving applications.  The stress-flow forging process eliminates the breaks and interruptions of the internal grain structure that occur when machining straight billet block.  The FEA design provides substantial improvements in strength and performance while increasing resistance to deflection and caliper separation under heavy load.

Features of this system include SRS Squeal Reduction System with stainless steel bridge plates, high temperature seals and stainless steel pistons and four-corner two piece bleed screws.  Standard race calipers feature a bright black anodized finish for a high tech look that resists corrosion.  Polished calipers are also available for custom show car applications.

Forged Dynalite calipers are a direct replacement for all Wilwood Dynalite calipers with 5.25” centered mounting tabs.  The full range of PolyMatrix pad compounds is available for this caliper.

CRANE CAMS OFFERS LS V8 VALVE COVERS

Crane Cams expands its Chevrolet LS V8 offerings with two versions of solid billet aluminum valve covers, which address the needs of the serious engine builder. These are designed for all LS cylinder heads having the four center-bolt hold-down configuration.

These covers are equipped with a passenger side oil cap, and provisions are made for machining to accept the standard coil brackets. The solid sealing flange eliminates distortion, and is machined for the included o-rings, in order to effect a positive seal to the cylinder head.

They have increased interior dimensions, providing the needed additional clearance for shaft and stud-mounted aftermarket performance rocker arms. These are available with valve spring oilers, which are desired for maximum performance applications, or, a conventional version is also offered. The premium version incorporates oiling passages that are integral with the covers, eliminating any potential issues resulting from vibration and prolonged usage.

The standard finish is natural aluminum, with the Crane Cams logo machined into the top face. Options include: machining for coil brackets, different surface finishes, and custom engraving, each available at an additional charge.

TECH: CAMAROGUYS.COM, LINKE ACTIVATE VIA SUSPENSION

JeanneLinkeburnoutWhether a drag car is looking to run 14 seconds in the quarter-mile, or seven seconds, suspension is vital to any racer’s success.  No matter how much time a racer spends using an engine dyno, he or she can’t truly win without an optimally set up vehicle.  How your drag car leaves the starting line of the drag strip determines your overall elapsed time.

NHRA Division One Stock Eliminator competitor, Jeanne Linke, recently dropped off her 1985 Camaro to CamaroGuys.com supplier, S&W Race Cars in Spring City, PA. CamaroGuys.com is a distributor of many well known brands of performance race and street parts, including S&W who will be installing her new chassis and suspension components.

“In Stock Eliminator there are rules we must follow regarding how far we can really push our engines.  To compensate for the few extra horsepower that your opponent may have over you in a heads-up scenario there are ways to still give you that winning edge,” said Linke.

PROJECT WHITE WAGON: WE ARE ROLLING AGAIN

wagon_02Demands of remaining on the cutting edge of technology, along with the procurement of crucial elements for Project White Wagon, slowed our progress on the junkyard to SS/E Modified project car. We’re pleased to report that progress has resumed at a rapid rate with frequent updates.

When we last left our Project White Wagon, we were largely in a hunting and gathering phase.

Chassis builder Tom Lukans, coordinator on our build, confirmed we are at the first required piece per the SFI 25.5 spec safety data sheets.

In getting to this point, the new floor pan from JW Nova Parts has been trimmed, modified and fitted, which is critical to the driveshaft location per NHRA rules. This will determine the actual engine location and ride height for the Project White Wagon.

Lukans has installed the rear cross-member, a 1 5/8 inch [.083] piece of chrome moly tubing, the attaching point for the QuarterMax Race Cars chassis brackets. From there we have built the lower frame rails which run to the front of the car. We have installed the firewall [from JW Nova], which has been modified to accommodate the Browell aluminum bellhousing equipped with a titanium sleeve. Our Browell Bellhousing is certified to meet and exceed S.F.I. 6.1, 6.2 or 6.3 specifications for maximum clutch/flywheel containment.
