The fallout from the dismissal of former IHRA President Leah Martin appears to have created another layer of uncertainty, this time surrounding reports about who is actually leading the sanctioning body.
Amid the discussion surrounding Martin’s departure, another media outlet reported that Tommy Thomassie had been named president of the IHRA. However, sources close to the situation tell CompetitionPlus.com that Thomassie was never appointed to that role.
Instead, according to those sources, Thomassie is expected to continue serving as president on the boat racing side of the organization. Sources also pushed back against speculation that Thomassie had been dismissed, calling those reports inaccurate.
The leadership picture, however, may not stay unclear for long.
CompetitionPlus.com has been told that Pro Water Craft Series Director Dustin Farthing is expected to be named the next IHRA president in a media announcement anticipated in the near future.
As with many developments surrounding the IHRA in recent months, the details remain fluid and continue to evolve.
